Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a ghost buster?
No, we like the movies for their comedic value, however we can assure you that we don't try to "bust", zap, capture, or harm our ghosts, we acknowledge and communicate with them.
Where do the tours begin and end?
Most of our experiences begin in our Haunted Parlor location. Your emailed confirmation will give you the start location for your experience.
Is this a walking or riding tour?
Yes and No. All experiences are designed to bring you the most authentic and interactive adventure possible. Our climate controlled passenger van "Gyspy" is utilized when we need to move all guests to a location not accessible by walking.
How much walking is involved?
All of our tours are designed to give you the most authentic experience. Any walking is done at a leisurely pace. If you break a sweat it's our lovely Southern humidity, not the walk.
Where can we expect to go while on tour?
Locations vary. As investigations continue, the landscape and encounters we have may vary locations and time frames in which we stay at a particular location.
Do we use any equipment on the investigative experience?
Yes. The A Night Among Ghosts experience utilizes equipment and trigger objects. We show intuitive and spiritualism techniques as well as use equipment from the victorian era up to today's latest equipment.
Do you go into buildings?
We do have access to buildings on some experiences. However, most people assume you have to be in a building to get activity. Not the case. Most of the ghostly stories included on our experiences are private homes, museums, cemeteries and other areas not easily accessed by the public.
Do we need to bring anything with us?
Yes. We recommend a camera, or smartphone fully charged. Wear comfortable shoes, weather and outdoor appropriate clothing. We supply every tour with bottled water. During the summer months, bug repellant can be handy. We usually have bug repellant with us.
Can we bring our own equipment?
Certainly. We love talking ghost equipment and love guests sharing their equipment and gadgets. Keep it limited to what you can carry or hold individually, some equipment can become cumbersome as we change locations during our experiences while riding in our passenger van with other guests.
Do we stop for bathroom breaks?
Yes. However, like many businesses in older cities, not every location has a restroom. Please use the restroom prior to arriving for an experience. We usually have an available restroom stop half way through the tour and some locations do have restrooms.
Do we need to drive our vehicle to sites?
We have you covered. We meet at our Haunted Parlor and we utilize "Gypsy", our climate controlled passenger van to transport all of our guests around to the varied haunted locations.
Do we have to have tickets in advance?
Yes, please reserve in advance. We specialize in small group tours with limited space available for each tour. This allows for a better possible ghostly interaction as well as an overall better experience for each guest. Reservations can be made online or over the phone. If you prefer to pay in person please visit us at our Haunted Parlor location located at 125 King Street in St. Augustine.
Do the guides try to jump scare us?
We never use scare tactics like jump scares, yelling or screaming. We are professional guides and investigators and we let the evidence speak for itself.
Are your tours and experiences scary?
Maybe. The nature of ghost hunting, investigating known haunted locations, and the chance encounter of the supernatural can be thrilling indeed. Some guests experience chills, hair standing on the back of their neck. Some catch photographic evidence and many witness communication and interaction with spirit. We do not, however, go out with the intent to scare anyone theatrically by jump scares or any other means.
What happens if we don't show up for our scheduled tour?
Can we wear our dress clothes and heels from dinner?
I wouldn't suggest it. We ask that everyone come prepared for the outdoors and inclimate weather. Most of the streets are old, brick and uneven. The places we go vary and could include outdoor terrain both in the city and in wooded areas.
What if we have to cancel?
We ask for at least a 48 hour notice of cancellation. In the event of proper notice, we will refund your entire ticket purchase. If cancellation is under 24 hours we will issue you a raincheck.
Do you accept gratuities?
Yes, however they are never required, and certainly always appreciated.
Do you allow pets?
For everyone's safety, unexpected health issues with allergies and to insure all guests have a great time we ask that you do not bring pets on any investigations or tours. We do allow registered service animals, but currently no emotional support animals.
Do your guides wear costumes?
No. Our experiences are non-theatrical and we do not wear costumes. We leave those for Halloween and Super Heroes.
What if it rains?
We keep a close watch on weather conditions. Weather here is typically ideal, but mother nature occasionally likes to keep us on our toes. If there is light rain we will continue on with the experience. With heavy rain it will be up to the guide, as we are sometimes in buildings or under shelters. When lightning is an issue we usually will cancel. Your guide will contact you at least 30 minutes prior to the tour start time if there is the rare weather cancellation.
Will we see or hear ghosts?
Maybe. It's never a guarantee, but always a possibility. Many of our guests have experienced interactive ghostly encounters. Check out our evidence page for guest and crew encounters caught on camera.
Is alcohol allowed on tour?
No. St. Augustine has a very strict policy on alcohol and public consumption, plus we like our guests to be focused on connecting with the spirits of the non-alcoholic variety.
Why do your experiences have age limits?
We love children, but due to the nature of some of the stories and the real possibility of interaction or a ghostly sighting, our tours are marked age appropriate. Private tours and experiences are available upon request and can be customized for your needs.
Why are your experiences more expensive?
Our experiences are created to be interactive for a smaller group with educated and professional guides. Hours of research, planning and site selection behind the scenes leads to an authentic experience for every guest. Our experiences are for the customers who appreciate the value of our experiences, knowledge and service oriented approach.
