Yes and No. All experiences are designed to bring you the most authentic and interactive adventure possible. Our climate-controlled passenger van "Gyspy" is utilized when we need to move all guests to a location not accessible by walking.
Walking tours are approximately 1.5 miles or less. All of our tours are designed to give you the most authentic experience. Any walking is done at a leisurely pace. If you break a sweat it's our lovely Southern humidity, not the walk.
No, we like the movies for their comedic value, however, we can assure you that we don't try to "bust", zap, capture, or harm our ghosts, we acknowledge and communicate with them.
Locations vary. As we create new experiences and investigations continue, the landscape and encounters we have may vary in locations and time frames in which we stay at a particular location. Paranormal Investigations we do explore inside buildings to bring you the most authentic experience possible.
Yes. The A Night Among Ghosts experiences utilizes equipment and trigger objects. We show intuitive and spiritualism techniques as well as use equipment from the victorian era up to today's latest equipment.
We do have access to buildings on some experiences. However, most people assume you have to be in a building to get activity. Not the case. Most of the ghostly stories included on our experiences are private homes, museums, cemeteries and other areas not easily accessed by the public.
Yes. We recommend a camera, or smartphone fully charged. Wear comfortable shoes, weather and outdoor appropriate clothing. We supply every tour with bottled water. During the summer months, bug repellant can be handy. We usually have bug repellant with us.
You can bring your own equipment to any of the paranormal investigations. We love talking ghost equipment and love guests sharing their equipment and gadgets. Keep it limited to what you can carry or hold individually, some equipment can become cumbersome as we change locations during our experiences while riding in our passenger van with other guests.
Yes. However, like many businesses in older cities, not every location has a restroom. Please use the restroom prior to arriving for an experience. We usually have an available restroom stop half way through the tour and some locations do have restrooms.
We have you covered. For any of our experiences that have a need for driving we utilize "Gypsy", our climate-controlled passenger van to transport all of our guests around to the varied haunted locations.
Yes, please reserve in advance. We specialize in small group tours with limited space available for each tour. This allows for a better experience and possible ghostly interaction as well as an overall better experience for each guest. Reservations can be made online or over the phone. If you prefer to pay in person please visit us at our Haunted Parlor location located at 125 King Street in St. Augustine.
We never use scare tactics like jump scares, yelling or screaming. We are professional guides and investigators and we let the evidence speak for itself.
Maybe. The nature of ghost hunting, investigating known haunted locations, and the chance encounter of the supernatural can be thrilling indeed. Some guests experience chills, hair standing on the back of their neck. Some catch photographic evidence and many witness communication and interaction with spirit. We do not, however, go out with the intent to scare anyone theatrically by jump scares or any other means.
No shows are no fun. However, we understand things happen. Contact us prior to tour time and we will issue a raincheck. In the event you don't show or don't call all monies are forfeited.
I wouldn't suggest it. We ask that everyone come prepared for the outdoors and inclimate weather. Most of the streets are old, brick and uneven. The places we go vary and could include outdoor terrain both in the city and in wooded areas.
We ask for at least a 48 hour notice of cancellation. In the event of proper notice, we will refund your entire ticket purchase. If cancellation is under 24 hours we will issue you a raincheck.
Yes, however, they are never required, and certainly always appreciated. Our guides train and work hard to help bring you the most authentic experience you have come to expect from The Odd Macabre.
For everyone's safety, unexpected health issues with allergies and to insure all guests have a great time we ask that you do not bring pets on any investigations or tours. We do allow registered service animals, but currently no emotional support animals.
No. Our experiences are non-theatrical and we do not wear costumes. We leave those for Halloween and Super Heroes.
We keep a close watch on weather conditions. The weather here is typically ideal, but mother nature occasionally likes to keep us on our toes. If there is light rain we will continue on with the experience. With heavy rain, we will make a decision for each experience, as we are sometimes in buildings or under shelters. When lightning is an issue we usually will cancel. We will contact you at least 30 minutes prior to the tour start time if there is a rare weather cancellation. Upon a weather cancellation, we will refund your tickets.
Maybe. It's never a guarantee, but always a possibility. Many of our guests have experienced interactive ghostly encounters. Check out our evidence page for guest and crew encounters caught on camera.
No. St. Augustine has a very strict policy on alcohol and public consumption, plus we like our guests to be focused on connecting with the spirits of the non-alcoholic variety.
